My experience @ The Skrillex Show

Before the show I went to Barfly and danced around on the stripper poles with a friend. It was rather funny because I didn’t think men were going to start throwing money at me. A guy asked me if he could tip me and I was like sure, more money for me! I didn’t take my clothes off or anything. All we did was danced on the pole, so it wasn’t even bad. Maybe a little slutty but not bad, we were just having fun. Soon this random stranger started putting money in my shoes because I was wearing peter pan looking shoes but they were tall on the leg it that makes any sense. After that, men can and danced with us on the poles so it was an experience I will remember. After dancing with some guy, I went to the 3^rd floor. I found Fire Mamas’ Feathers and Accessories, they were there selling jewelery and feather extensions for ten bucks. Everyone should check out there facebook page. They spit fire as well! They were very nice and I hope to interview them soon, that if there interested, being 18 kind of sucks, no one takes me seriously, but I am serious about my website. I also watch people paint to music, it was pretty cool to watch. People came up with the craziest things, but their pieces are something I would buy myself. The one I didn’t like was all the drugs. I saw people snort coke and take shots of heroine, something I don’t want to be around, but its a dubstep show so I expected it to happen. It opened up my eyes and made me realize, the world isn’t perfect. Some people were even smoking weed and K2 in the middle of the crowd. Some people got a little to crazy. I even had someone run into my boobs, he said, “Sorry, I’m drunk!” Then he ran away. It was funny, because at the time I thought it was ridiculous but who wasn’t there. I loved the light gloves people wore and I’m going to buy some online now. I chatted with a few of those people and got some videos. My camera isn’t the best, because I couldn’t get my professional one in, so sorry about the quality! In the end though, Skrillex’s performance was amazing, he did such a great job. If he ever comes back to Minnesota, I’ll see him in a heartbeat.

On July 1st, 2011, I, AmandaMarieMN aka Amanda Bright saw Skrillex live at the Skyway Theater in Minneapolis. The Skyway Theater was amazing because I had no clue what to expect. When I walked through the doors at the club, it wasn’t as small as I thought. The place was huge and full of life. As I walked in, a live DJ was spinning music at the first bar. However, on every floor there was a bar. Drinks were kinda expensive that night. I bought two waters for six bucks, but aren’t they always expensive at shows? After I saw the first DJ I took a right and walked into Barfly. There were no doors to separate the two rooms and another live DJ was spinning there. The music from both DJ’s didn’t collide, which kind of surprised me. When I first walked into Barfly, I noticed the stripper poles. I thought it was funny because no one had any interest to dance on one, so my friend and I messed around on them for a bit. Its a small club, but it sure is fun when you have time to spare. When I was done messing around in Barfly, I went up to the next floor. The second floor is where I saw Skrillex preform. He was amazing as well as the music he played. He had a good stage setup, full of lights and his logos. I’ve never seen a DJ interact with the crowd a lot. I’ve been to a lot of shows but he was really into the crowd compared to others. He really loved to interact and he even crowd surfed himself. I can tell, music is his passion and he will go even further with it. He seems like a really great guy as I listened to him talk. It made me laugh when he would say, “Respect the ladies.” It shows he has a kind heart and I like that about him. Hopefully he will come back again some time soon and play at a even better venue. Skrillex overall did an amazing job, but I wasn’t thrilled with the crowd. Minnesota embarrassed everyone on the floor who was there to listen to good music. Everyone should be welcoming Skrillex and have some sort of respect because he took his time to give us a bomb show. Before Skrillex got on stage someone in the crowd got ahold of a fire extinguisher and let it off on Porter Robinson, so I was told. That had to be the rudest thing anyone had done that night, because it hit some of his equipment. I’m sure that equipment was very expensive and I hope none of it has to be replace but I’m sure it’s a possibility that it will have to be. The whole place smelt like ammonia after the incident. I could taste it in my mouth and even feel it from all the way across the room, it kind of looked like dry ice, but it wasn’t. Then Skrillex asked for ten seconds of silence for Ryan Dunn, the man from Jack ass who had recently passed away. The crowd was rude and you can view the video on youtube, but the crowd didn’t stop talking. People were drunk and drugged up but mainly drunk. Skrillex would say, “ 1 2 3 SHHHHHHHH.”

Some of the disrespectful people would laugh and yell whooo! It’s like seriously? How disrespectful can someone be? Ryan Dunn was Skrillex’s friend and he met him in person like he said at the show. Next time, if there’s a next time, I hope people have a little bit more respect for this artist. Before Skrillex got on stage, above where he played an art show was going on. Behind all of that, there was a movie theater where I watched part of a live movie and I believe it was Tron. The night was very interesting and it’s a night I will never forget. Just next time people, please be more respectful so the artist Sound in Motion and whoever else brings them. We want the artist to want to come back and like Minnesota.
